why i love ice cream!

First of all, Happy Halloween! Doesn't it feel like the holiday season has officially started? We've got Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years' just ahead of us. Get excited!

Okay, now that that's out of the way, welcome to this week's post! I thought I'd talk about something that I have some mild expertise in, only because I love it so much. This is, obviously, ice cream! Yes, that comforting, sweet, bitter, smooth, cool, creamy dessert with sprinkles of little toppings here and there- that is the subject of today's post. Personally, my favorite ice cream shop/brand is definitely Cold Stone Creamery. Specifically, a flavor called "Founder's Favorite" appeals to my tongue in a way that no other ice cream can rival. Apparently, I am not the only one. Judging by it's name, even the founders of this beloved company were keen on the flavor. Here is a picture of the beauty:
Picture
Nothing less than mouthwatering, I believe. This picture doesn't even do the mixture of crunchy, chewy nuts and warm brownies covered with syrup in cool ice cream anything close to justice. If you want the real deal, you might just have to stop by your local Cold Stone and grab one for yourself. Let me tell you, they are worth every penny.

But why is ice cream so good? Of course, there are those people out there who say they don't like ice cream, but they're like the people who don't like chocolate. Insane. We don't talk about those people over here. Here, we revel in the way it makes us a child again- how we scoop out a bite onto our spoon and then flip the spoon over and slide the soft sweetness into our mouths. We stare at the monstrous cone filled over the brim with toppings and flavorings, with our eyes savoring every moment. We also see the elegance and beauty of one simple flavor and baffle our mind with how amazing something so plain can be. This, consequently, makes us wonder when it became an insult to call something "vanilla" because the ice cream flavor (if made right) is everything except bland and boring.

There are flavors that you associate with moments and memories. Baskin Robbins, Gold Medal Ribbon: when a friend's mom let us skip part of school so we could get a fun summer treat in May. Haagen-Dazs, Mango: late at night when we make last minute trips to Target and end up getting a mini pint of ice cream spur-of-the-moment. Plain old chocolate: when somebody thought that biting the bottom of the ice cream cone would be an interesting (albeit, not well thought out) idea, and decided, like the initiative-taker they were, to put this plan into action. Spoiler alert: everything ended up as dripping chocolatey puddle........oops.

Ice cream is just a happy treat. You can never go wrong with it. Sad, crying? Eat some ice cream. In actual physical pain? Eat some ice cream. Happy, want to celebrate? Eat some ice cream (and cake, too, because you deserve it!). Mad, want to fight? Eat some ice cream, cool down, relax. Feeling calm and serene? Eat some ice cream, involve your tastebuds in whatever mindful journey you're on.

Ice cream is for everybody. Sure, there's cheap ice cream with a crystallized crunch, and there's the uppity, refined gelato. But they all serve the same purpose. To make you happier, and enhance your mundane life. So, treat yourself. These desserts were made just for you!

I absolutely love this post! Ice cream is one of my favorite things ever and I actually used to work at an ice cream shop. That was the best job because I always got free ice cream! I love ice cream! Great post and I like the way you write too.

Aw thanks so much Megan!! My dream is literally to work at an ice cream shop just for the free ice cream haha! I’m glad you enjoyed the writing, I tend to have a bunch of different writing styles and not all of them sound great on posts, you know? Really appreciate your comment :)
